Nowy początek stracił nominację oscarową

Niesamowity film „Arrival” („Nowy początek”), do którego muzykę stworzył Johann Johannson został zdyskwalifikowany w Oscarach w kategorii Best Original Score. Co ciekawe, nie on jeden. To samo spotkało „Manchester by the Sea” i muzykę Leslie Barber oraz „Silence” z muzyką Kathryn Kluge. Podobno nie były one na „tyle znaczące”.

Jak stwierdziła Academy of Motion Picture Arts i Sciences uznała, że coś „nie powinno być zakwalifikowane, jeżeli jest to rozrzedzenie istniejącej już muzyki albo zostało zredukowane wpływem przeważających utworów i jakiejkolwiek muzyki niezwiązanej specyficznie z filmem przez kompozytora przesyłającego.”

W przypadku „Arrival” ponoć 86% muzyki soundtracku kompozytor już wcześniej wykorzystał.

Johannsson napisał muzykę do otwarcia i zamknięcia filmu, ale reżyser Denis Villeneuve zdecydował się wykorzystać „This Bitter Earth” Richtera, a Johannsson w pełni to poparł. Poniżej macie też pełną listę kandydatów:
